Verified Reviewer |The door is dangerous and may become a liability
- - I bought a Larson storm door in 2022; custom for 9-foot ceilings, about $1,500.
- - It now closes fast and risks pets and seniors.
I purchased a Larson storm door from my local Lowe's in 2022. It cost me almost $1,500.00 at that time because my new home has 9-foot ceilings, so the door was necessarily custom made.
The door came with a 'limited' lifetime warranty. Apparently, the operative word is 'limited.' My door started closing faster and faster with very swift speed and force. It's now a liability for small pets as well as seniors who move slowly when coming in or going out. Using a ladder and screwdriver, I tried to adjust the adjustment screw on the top of the door, to no avail.
I contacted customer service for Larson and was directed to a stern woman who told me the 'closure' mechanism needs replacement. The part alone is almost $150.00, and installation is also on me. For God's sake, do not pay extra money for a big, known name such as Larson. They do not stand by their product.
I understand it's a 'limited' warranty, but it's not as though someone was abusive or negligent with the door. Larson 'gets' you with the word 'limited.' Avoid the Larson brand! Buy a 'no name' door. Find a neighbor with a 'no name' brand storm door that has had many good and reliable years with the door.
Even if it too breaks in 3 years, you're still better off than I am because you will have paid much less.
You will not waste as much money as I have. Who knows, you might be as fortunate as your neighbor and receive many years of proper functionality.
User's recommendation: Avoid the Larson Brand

- - Jennifer took my call and was friendly, patient, and thorough.
- - She listened, identified the needed part, and guided me through online ordering.
Jennifer took my call, and she was fabulous. She was friendly, patient, and very thorough.
She patiently listened to my problem, identified the necessary part, and then walked me through the online parts ordering procedure to ensure I ordered the correct part. Thank you, Jennifer.
In this era where customer service is somewhat lacking, it was refreshing to deal with Jennifer. I wish all customer service people were like her.
- L like the slide down storm window for summer use reason for buy
Preferred solution: Turns I needed a replacement latch assembly for my 2015 door to fix my problem. Thanks to Jennifer in customer service I have the part ordered.
User's recommendation: If all Larson customer service people are like Jennifer you will be all set.
Sent new glass insert and it does not fit in storm door
The replacement glass insert that was sent to me does not fit into my storm door; the top frame was cut too long to fit in the storm door.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Do not buy Larson or Pella doors no longer made well. Quality control is not good.
Storm door with missing parts and poor quality.
- - Straps were missing and the glass frame fell off.
- - Strips arrived 3.5 weeks late after 6 calls; no timely resolution.
The storm door was missing the strips required to hold in the screen/glass. Took 3 weeks and several calls to Lowe’s and Larson to have them shipped.
The glass insert the frame fell off in my hand. Larson said the glass would be delivered to our local store. The glass was to be at Lowe’s on 9/192025. Lowe’s had no record of receipt.
staff member called Larson they had no record. we had an email from them.
Had to start over. We removed the installed door and returned it to Lowe’s.
Y husband installed we discovered the straps needed to hold the door in place were missing. In addition, the frame around the glass portion fell off in our hands.
Called customer service and they told us they would send the strips out in a few days. We received them 3 1/2 weeks later after 6 phone calls. The glass was to be sent to our local Lowes and we were sent two emails confirming it was sent.
It was to be delivered on 9/19/2025. When we went to Lowes they had no record and the rep called Larson and they had no knowledge or record. We showed the rep the two confirming emails. The process needed to none started over.
We were told , once again, we would receive an email that day telling us when it would be shipped. 5 days later and nothing has been shipped and the proc Ss hasnt been started.
Lowes out their best person on the case , and you guessed it.
She didnt call back either.
My husband called Larson again today and was placed on hold for 25 minutes and finally hung up, took the door off the frame and returned it to Lowes. We purchased an Anderson storm door.
I would certainly expect better customer service for a $575 door.
User's recommendation: Do not purchase Larson products, their customer service is terrible on a new purchase, I cannot imagine trying to make a claim on a warranty.
Bad instructions!!
- - They claim 10 minute install, but it took 2–3 hours.
- - The instructions are confusing and misleading; I installed it myself after discarding them.
They claim 10 minute installation, better count on about 2 to 3 hours! The instructions are confusing, and misleading! I was ready to return the door before finally getting it done on my own after trashing the installation instructions!
User's recommendation: Beware,,,and prepare for a long process to install these doors!!

- - Doors barely lasted three years and began failing after one.
- - Hardware pitting appeared; parts fell off and replacements were needed.
My screen doors barely lasted three years and started to fall apart after one. I had issues with the hardware pitting right away.
I also had issues with the hardware falling off and was forced to buy more. They will not do anything and complain.
They have both since broke again. I will never go back.
- Bad product
- Not standing behind their products
- Pricey and then charge you for parts that should be included
Preferred solution: Apology

- - The doors fail after a few months; latch, lock, and handles don't work.
- - Customer service is poor.
- - Not worth the $1k investment.
Worked great for a few months until I continued to have issues with them. They don't latch properly, the locking mechanism doesn't come out, and the door handles don't work.
Overall, trashy doors.
In addition to their customer service, they're just overall trash. Don't waste $1k like me on *** doors or time with their *** customer service.
- Everything they dont do basic functioning
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Dont buy these doors!
Excellent Resolution
- - My retractable screen buckled and came off the track.
- - Menards gave Larsons info and a short customer-service call led to a replacement screen.

Verified ReviewerCustom Door Wrongly Manufactured Twice
- - Custom storm door was manufactured incorrectly twice.
- - My carpenter canceled the order; Larson was unresponsive and unprofessional.
Don’t use this company for custom doors.
The custom storm door was manufactured incorrectly twice. They cut the keyholes on the left side, and the second time it was missing components.
My carpenter ended up canceling the order, and now he needs to go with a different company.
It took Larson three months to do a storm door wrong twice. They were pretty unresponsive and unprofessional.
- Unprofessional
- Incompetent
- Delays
Preferred solution: Apology

Verified ReviewerContinual Problems with the Retractable Screen
- - Don't buy in Canada due to no service or parts.
- - Door needed service in 2 mo; screen tension failed.
- - Replacement sent after 2 attempts and costs $1,000.
I recommend that you do not buy this door if you live in Canada. There is no service or parts available.
I have only had the door for 2 months and had to have it serviced 3 times! The screen lost its tension. Larson sent a replacement mechanism (after 2 attempts with customer service and 6 weeks waiting). I had the new screen installed professionally and on the 2nd use, the screen lost its tension.
I had to have it serviced again. All in all, this door has cost me $1,000.
- Looks good
- Retractable screen is poorly made
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Do not purchase unless you have service and parts near by.

you order a door and they say for sure 6 weeks then the delivery date comes and goes, week after week and still no door they apologize for 5 week delays really, ??? Now they say it is ready but wont ship for another week or two
I am considering legal action they are so incompetent uncaring and will not answer the phone..
Chat on line is no help they just repeat the broken record and cannot even direct you or transfer you to management. Will never buy from them again PERIOD

Verified ReviewerBad retractable screen design/reliability
- - The retractable screen on my Larson storm door has failed four times in two years.
- - The tension bar unwinds the screen and requires removal.
I have owned a Larson storm door for approximately 2 years. In that time, the retractable screen feature has failed four times, requiring removal and reinstallation.
The tension bar fails and unwinds the screen. This is an unreasonable frequency, given that I live in a northern climate and would use the screen 5-6 months of any given year.
- Easy installation
- Style
- Poor screen retractable performance
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don't buy a Larsen retractable screen door.

- - Customer service would not send the missing parts.
- - Do not buy from them due to poor service.
This company has terrible customer service! They wanted to charge me $193 for the parts that were missing from my door. They did not believe me that the parts were missing from the box.
When I opened the box, my new door was missing the entire frame and hinges! They apparently don't believe me and would not send me the missing parts! Do not buy from these people; worst customer service ever.
